From Maccagno to Luino

Sentiero delle meraviglie (Novaggio-Aranno)
Sentiero del castagno (Arosio-Mugena-Vezio-Fescoggia-Arosio)
Monte Lema. Between 800 and 900m way up (and down) from Astano, Miglieglia or Berno. The effort is rewarded on the top by clear weather with a wonderful view of the whole Malcanton, the Major and Lugano lakes, the Alps and sometimes even of Milan. Another possibility is the use of the modern cable car to get to the top.
A classic one is the 4-5- hour hike along the mountain crest from the Monte Lema to the Monte Tamaro (or backwards) with an impressive view to the West (Lago Maggiore) and East (Lago di Lugano). At the end a shuttelbus brings the hiker back to his start point.
