The Roccolo lies in a very quiet area at the edge of the forest at 700m above sea level, in the Malcantone, about 2km away from Astano. The Italian border is 300m away. GPS coordinates: 46.010914,8.800018 (decimal degrees) or 46°N00’39.29’’ 8°E48’00.06’’ (degrees, minutes and seconds). Directions (by car)

Highway A2 Gothard-Chiasso : take exit n° 49 Lugano Nord / Ponte Tresa. Follow Varese / Ponte Tresa. At the light, turn left (Varese, Ponte Tresa, Bioggio). After the sign Bioggio turn right at the next roundabout, in the direction of Varese / Ponte Tresa / Agno. At the main crossing in Agno take a right and follow Ponte Tresa / Varese. Drive across Magliaso, take the first exit on the right at the roundabout right after the sign Caslano. Drive up in the direction of d’Arosio / Novaggio / Pura / Astano. In Curio, follow Banco / Astano. Drive scross Banco, Nerocco and Bombinasco. Also drive across the village of Astano, and follow the sign Laghetto. At the laghetto (small lake) and camping turn left and drive up a small, tarred and curvy road. After 900m there is a farm on the left hand side. Go on straight up on the tarred road. After 270m turn left, driving past a driving ban sign with the mention “Privato – Confinanti autorizzati” (= only residents authorized). After 130m and a short drive down you directly face the Roccolo’s carport, located by a small intersection. The house itself is on the right above this carport (also follow the green mailbox).

Description (by public transportation)

Take the train until Lugano. Cross the road in front of the train station and take the regional train FLP. Exit at Magliaso. Take the postal bus to Novaggio. Change at Novaggio to Astano. From the bus stop at Astano you have to walk 20-30 min to get to the Roccolo. Please consult the SBB website for the timetable.

As the last part of the way has no bus service, it is recommended to go to the Roccolo by car or by any other individual transport means.
